For one day only, the small county of Dorset and the Isle of Portland have hit the 'factual limelight' of the world's most successful, popular, and comprehensive online encyclopedia: Wikipedia
The article focuses predominantly on Dorset's 'Jurassic Coast', its fascinating geology, break-taking views, and extensive maritime history. The secondary, and more pertinent focus, is on the 2012 Olympics, where Weymouth & Portland will host the only Olympic event at the 2012 Summer Olympics held outside of London – sailing – at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy in Portland Harbour.
It’s not so well known that our waters have actually been accredited by the Royal Yachting Association as the best in Northern Europe and have a well-documented war-time, Naval history!
